Everyone feels stressed and anxious at some point in their lives - it is the body’s natural response to dealing with certain life events.  Frequent or high levels of anxiety can trigger irrational thoughts and set-off a number of physical and emotional symptoms.  These symptoms can appear frightening, often leaving the sufferer not knowing how to cope, and trigger panic attacks.

Anxiety 
can affect anyone regardless of gender, age, race or class.  It can erupt at any time and disrupt daily life, preventing a person from functioning in a healthy way.  Symptoms can last from just a few minutes to a couple of hours.  The condition however, can stay with the sufferer for months or even years with devastating effects to them and their families. 

 
Symptoms of Panic Attacks
Difficulty breathing, feeling a pressure in the chest, hyperventilating, increased heart beat, palpitations, sweaty palms, hot and cold flushes, feeling dizzy, nauseous, upset stomach, feeling numb or isolated from the world around you.

Causes of Panic Attacks
Unrealistic feelings and emotions relating to certain life situations, feeling vulnerable, stress,anxiety, loss of control, lack of confidence, low self-esteem, changes in personal circumstances, fear of failure, post traumatic stress.

Effects of Panic Attacks
Feeling a sense of helplessness, avoidance of certain situations, social isolation, agoraphobia, inability to see a way out of situations, altered thoughts and emotions, breakdown of home life, long-term unemployment or sick leave.
